Am fünften März ging unsere Reise endlich mit einer kleinen Verspätung los. Ein kleines Mädchen fand den Notausgang besonders interessant und löste aus Versehen einen Alarm aus. Nach fünf Minuten Alarm konnte dieser ohne großem Aufsehen gestoppt werden und wir durften ohne weitere Unterbrechungen ins Flugzeug.
Nach 12 Stunden Flug über Österreich, Rumänien, Indien und Weitere ohne wirklich viel schlaff landeten wir in der Hitze Singapurs. 🙂
Der dritte Besuch in drei Jahren. Und ich muss sagen mir gefällt die Stadt besser als zuvor. Es ist einfach eine der schönsten Großstädte die ich kenne, da überall im Stadtgebiet Parks und Gärten verteilt sind. In Singapur musst du als Tourist nur zwei Minuten länger vor einem Automaten oder einer Karte stehen und sofort kommt ein hilfsbereiter Einheimischer und hilft dir zielgerichtet und freundlich weiter.
Wie schon oben geschrieben, war es wie immer ziemlich heiß in Singapur. Es hatte ungefähr 33 ° C und wir wollten einfach nur schnell ins Hotel um in die Dusche zu hüpfen. Danach waren wir noch etwas kleines zum Abend essen in einem typischen Singapurer Einkaufzentrum mit den vielen kleinen Essensständen. Und dann durften wir endlich in unser rießigen Hotelzimmer schlafen (Ja ich habe in das Bett gepasst 🙂 ).
Am nächsten Tag wollten wir etwas mehr zur Geschichte von Singapur erfahren. Also gingen wir in die frühere Ford Fabrik, um etwas über die Geschichte Singapurs im und nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg zu erfahren. Ok, ich muss zugeben, dass ich gegangen bin und Diana hinter mir hergezogen habe. 😉 In der Ausstellung werden viele Ereignisse und Erinnerungen wiedergegeben. Von der Kapitulation Groß Britanniens über die Umbenennung und Besetzung durch die Japaner und die Besatzungszeit bis hin zur Kapitulation der Japaner und die erneute Besetzung durch GB. Der Ort ist hierbei besonders, da dort die Britten am 15ten Februar 1942 bedingungslos kapitulierten.
Es gibt verschiedene Bereiche innerhalb der Ausstellung. Im ersten Bereich können Früchte und Gemüse angeschaut werden, welche das Überleben der Bevölkerung in Singapur während der Besatzung durch die Japaner sicher stellten.
Im zweiten Bereich geht es um den Fall der britischen Kolonie Singapur im zweiten Weltkrieg. Als erstes Kennzeichen auf einen drohenden Krieg ließen die Britten alle Bürger Singapurs registrieren. Sie mussten ihren neuen Ausweis immer bei sich tragen, um einen Spion sofort erkennen zu können.
Als nächstes wird gezeigt, wie Singapur zu Syonan wurde. Während dieser Zeit durften nur Personen die Stadt verlassen, welche mit den Japanern sympathisierten. Dennoch bekam jeder bei der Ausreise einen Stempel in seinen Ausweis, auf das Regestrierungszertifikat oder ihr Hände, welcher das japanische Symbol für „untersucht“ zeigte. Personen, die ohne diesen Stempel erwischt wurden, wurden sofort hingerichtet.
Der letzte Bereich zeigt die Zeit nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg. Dort wird zum Beispiel die administrativ verbreitete Nachricht gezeigt, welche 1945 die Rückkehr der Britten ankündigte.
Und natürlich wäre so ein erster Urlaubstag total langweilig, wenn nicht auch etwas Witziges passiert wäre. Als wir den ersten Raum der Ausstellung betraten hatten, wollte Diana die ersten Fotos mit meiner Nikon D750 machen. Tja sie wollte… Fehler r12 und kein Auslösen. Nach kurzer Recherche wusste ich, dass r12 alles heißen kann, aber ich hatte die gute Allzwecklinse im Verdacht. Wir machten uns also nach der Ausstellung direkt mit Grap (vor zwei Jahren gab es noch Uber in Singapur) auf zum Service Zentrum von Nikon in Singapur. Wir stiegen vor einem Wolkenkratzer aus und konnten im ersten Moment nichts finden zu Nikon. Erst nachdem wir am Empfang nachgefragt hatten, wurde uns bestätigt, dass Nikon im 9ten Stock sitzt und wir eine Zugangskarte benötigen. Nach dem wir diese erhalten hatten, fuhren wir zu Nikon. Die nette Dame wechselte als erstes unseren fast leeren Akku gegen einen vollen aus und siehe da: Alles ging wieder. Wir sind natürlich erstmal rot angelaufen und dann mit gesunkenem Schwanz wieder zurück ins Hotel gefahren. 😉
Dort angekommen haben wir unsere Sachen zusammengepackt und sind zum Flughafen gefahren, um unseren nächsten Flug nach Neuseeland zu nehmen.
Da mich die Geschichte von Singapur nun noch mehr interessiert, wird hierzu demnächst ein weiterer Blogeintrag folgen.
